For those that don't know, Hemingway was one of our own Conchs. The writer adopted our beloved little island as his home....
Hemingway lived on historic Whitehead Street in Key West throughout the 30s and was an avid fisherman, in addition to being a Pulitzer Prize winning author.
Among the scheduled activities during Hemingway Days next week: a Hemingway Look-Alike Contest, various readings, a book signing by Edward Hemingway - grandson of Hemingway, a memorabilia exhibit, 3-day marlin tourney, the annual ‘running of the bulls’, and a short story contest directed by granddaughter Lorian Hemingway.
The Hemingway Look-Alike Contest is in its 28th year and expects over 100 men resembling Hemingway to participate at Sloppy Joe’s. Hilarious.
We will continue to keep you updated about what’s going on with Hemingway Days throughout next week. At Beachside Key West, we are offering a Hemingway Days special. Click here for more information or click here to book your package now!
